There was a lot of excitement for the Green Bay Packers heading into their Week 4 home game against Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings. For one, it was where Jordan Love would be returning from a two-week absence due to an injury he suffered back in Week 1 in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.
However, things did not start (and end) the right way for Love and the Packers on Sunday. They let the Vikings break away early before failing to complete a massive comeback attempt, with Green Bay ending up absorbing a 31-29 loss at the hands of the still-undefeated Vikings.
Nevertheless, Love had nothing but great words to say about how his teammates fought with him during a Green Bay rally.
Via Packers.com editor Mike Spofford:
“I’m proud of the way guys fought and stayed in there and definitely nobody quit,” Love said. “It’s definitely a long season … you know, we didn’t make (enough) plays, but the playmakers we have and the team we have, I definitely like where we’re at.”
Green Bay Packers comeback bid fails vs. Minnesota Vikings in Week 4
The Packers were down by 21 points at the start of the fourth quarter. They looked as though they were finished. But Love scored two touchdowns to close the gap and bring them to within six points of the Vikings. Minnesota then scored a field goal with a little under seven minutes remaining in regulation before Love’s momentum-killing interception with still around six minutes left. Green Bay would go on to score one more touchdown but it was not enough to give them a win.
Love finished the game with 389 passing yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.
