The Wisconsin Badgers have a 2-2 record in the college football season. They are on a two-game losing streak and will host the 1-3 Purdue Boilermakers this weekend. One of Purdue’s moves on Sunday ahead of the week’s matchup was firing offensive coordinator Graham Harrell.
Purdue has not scored over 30 points in a game since Week 1 against Indiana State. The Boilermakers are on a three-game losing streak. Both teams are trying to stay out of the basement in the BIG10 Conference.
Purdue Boilermakers Fans React To Graham Harrell Being Fired Ahead Of the Wisconsin Badgers Matchup
Hudson Card has been the primary quarterback this season for the Boilermakers. He has completed 65.9% of his passes for seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Card has been okay to start the season for Purdue, but Harrell being the scapegoat for the Boilermakers program is a major surprise this early into the college football season.
Here is what some of the fans had to say on Twitter about the firing of the Boilermakers offensive coordinator:
Graham Harrell taking the blame for super senior Hudson Card is nasty work

They could hire me at this point and maybe do better XD

When you recruit players with the mind set that they are the best or better than other players simply because they are tall, long, heavy, or from the portal this is the result they will continue to get. He is responsible, but so are the coaches on that staff with this mindset!

There seems to be a lot of blame going around with the Boilermakers’ offensive struggles. The Wisconsin Badgers defense will need to play well defensively this weekend to end the two-game losing streak.
Head Coach Releases Statement
When Purdue made the change, head coach Ryan Walters said:
“Decisions like this are never easy. After evaluating our start to the season, I felt that it was best for our team to make a change now. We are appreciative of Graham’s contributions to our program and wish him the best going forward.”
Graham Harrell was currently in his second season with the program. He was currently on a three-year deal and was one of the highest-paid assistants on the team. It has yet to be announced who will be the new offensive coordinator for the Boilermakers in the game this weekend against the Wisconsin Badgers.
