The Green Bay Packers had a rollercoaster kind of ride in their Week 4 home game against the visiting Minnesota Vikings. With Jordan Love returning from an injury that forced him to miss two games, the Packers felt good about extending their win streak. However, the Vikings started the game like a house on fire, scoring 28 unanswered points in the first half.
But the Packers did not quit right there. Instead, Love and company mounted a scorching comeback attempt that saw Green Bay score three unanswered touchdowns from the late third quarter to the mid-fourth quarter, cutting down Minnesota’s lead to only six points. However, Love got picked off by Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy with over six minutes remaining on the game clock.
Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love speaks up about interception
Although that interception did not necessarily doom Green Bay, things could have ended more favorably for the Packers had Love connected on that pass.
Via Packers.com editor Mike Spofford:
“We were going fast and they got me right there, brought an all-out (blitz),” Love said, tipping the proverbial cap to Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
“They had everybody up on the line of scrimmage and dropped out of there for the most part, and that was one time they brought it. In that instance, I could just throw the ball away, throw it out of bounds and live to fight another day.”
The Packers ultimately lost to Minnesota, 31-29, with Love going 32-of-54 for 389 passing yards and four touchdowns. He had three interceptions and a sack for a loss of 10 yards. Perhaps it will be better for Love and the Packers in Week 5 when his knee can be expected to be much stronger. The Packers take on the Los Angeles Rams next on the road on Oct. 6.
