NFL news: Aaron Rodgers has moved on to greener pastures. Now with the New York Jets, he will hope to replicate the same level of success he had with the Green Bay Packers playing alongside one of the top wide receivers in the game in Davante Adams, who himself has taken his talents to the Las Vegas Raiders.
As it turns out, Rodgers may have already unearthed the second coming of Adams in New York, and Jets fans have to be excited about this prospect.
NFL News: Aaron Rodgers Sees a Lot of Davante Adams in Garrett Wilson
Rodgers previously admitted that he does see some similarities between Adams and Jets incoming second-year wide receiver Garrett Wilson. The former Green Bay Packers cornerstone superstar has now doubled down on this high praise with his recent comments on his new wideout:
“Look, I love Davante. I saw him this summer. Davante is in a category by himself still, but that 17 [Wilson] reminds me of the other 17 [Adams] as far as his [Wilson’s] ability to get in and out of breaks and his quick twitch at the line of scrimmage, for sure,” Rodgers stated on a recent press conference, via Garrett Podell of CBS.
This is Aaron Rodgers we’re talking about here and for him to see this much potential in his young Jets teammate speaks volumes of Wilson’s bright future ahead. The 23-year-old also now has the advantage of having one of the greatest QBs of all time throwing passes to him.
Even Wilson himself admits that he hopes to attain the same level of success Davante Adams has in the latter’s decorated career. When asked if he saw some similarities between himself and the three-time All-Pro wide receiver, Wilson responded in the affirmative:
“I grew up watching him play and he was my favorite receiver growing up,” Wilson said. “… I try to take a lot of things from what he did well, but he is special, and you can see the lab work he puts in throughout the offseason and I am trying to get to that point. His releases, how he gets off the ball, are second to none.”
NFL News: Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams Partnership Was One for the Books
Green Bay Packers fans remember this duo well. They got broken up last season, though, with Adams heading to the Raiders, where he would have yet another remarkable campaign. Rodgers, on the other hand, spent another season in Green Bay, but surely, it just wasn’t the same without Davante in the mix. Packers supporters everywhere will agree that it was good while it lasted.
