NFL News: Aaron Rodgers has been one of the most polarizing names of the 2023 NFL off-season. That comes as no surprise given the storylines surrounding him over the last few off-seasons. However, this year it has been because of the massive trade between the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets. Rodgers has lured many players to the Jets this off-season, most of whom played for the Packers at one point in time. However, there seems to be a star free agent who is open to joining the Jets in 2023.
Star Running Back Dalvin Cook Endorses Idea Of Joining Aaron Rodgers And The New York Jets (NFL News)

The Minnesota Vikings released the 27-year-old in early June after failing to find a trade partner. Cook has been scheduled to make $10.4 million in base salary this upcoming season. There have been many teams reportedly interested in the star running back; one more may have just emerged. New York Jet Tyler Conklin openly talked about Cook joining forces, and Cook responded:
“OH BABY: @TomPelissero asked Tyler Conklin (@T_Conk1) if there’s room in the #Jets universe for Dalvin Cook (@dalvincook)? ‘Oh there’s plenty of room, we’ve got room for whoever wants to come help us win a #SuperBowl @gmfb #TakeFlight.”

Can The New York Jets Realistically Afford Dalvin Cook?

The New York Jets’ current running back room includes Breece Hall, Michael Carter, Israel Abanikanda, and Zonovan Knight. With a little more than $23 million in current cap space, the Jets wouldn’t have any trouble affording Cook if he’s interested in signing with them. Depending on how badly they want him on their roster, New York could even fulfill the veteran running back’s desire to make close to what he was going to earn with the Vikings next season (around $10 million).
Cook recently mentioned that he wants to return to playing in an offense that utilizes an outside zone running scheme, which just so happens to be what the Jets are expected to use in 2023 under new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. The fit could honestly make a lot of sense for both parties.
