Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers may be facing some tough decisions this off-season. Aaron Rodgers didn’t sign his massive three-year $150 million extension until March 8th, 2022. I would expect it to be around the same time this year that we hear news regarding his future in 2023. That being said, if he decides to come back and the Packers are set on trading him, one trade scenario surfaced that would send the four-time MVP out east during draft day. For what it’s worth, this year’s draft will be held from April 27th-29th, 2023.
Aaron Rodgers Traded During Latest 2023 NFL Mock Draft
In an article published by Sayre Bedinger:
Here it is — the blockbuster Aaron Rodgers trade to the Jets. I think everyone can see this one coming from a million miles away, if it actually happens. The Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett to be their offensive coordinator, so now the effort to land Rodgers is likely underway.
If the Jets can land Rodgers, paying up a couple of first-round picks will be well worth it. Look at last year’s Russell Wilson trade as a reference point for this one, outside of maybe three players going back to Green Bay. Even if that ends up being part of it, here the Packers decide to move on from Rodgers and into the Jordan Love era. They replace impending free agent Allen Lazard with Quentin Johnston, a big-bodied receiver who could join the likes of Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs in a new-look Green Bay offense. The Jets get a Packers legend in the twilight of his career who makes a bunch of drama every offseason. Sound familiar to anyone?
The full trade:
Green Bay Packers Receive:
- 13th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (Round 1)
- 43rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (Round 2)
- 2024 First-Round Draft Pick
- Additional Pick Considerations
New York Jets Receive:
- Quarterback Aaron. Rodgers
- Mid-Round Pick considerations
It seems like the Packers are in line to get at least one first-round pick for Aaron Rodgers if they decide to trade him. Earlier this month, Jets Owner Woody Johnson Says He Will Give Up “Multiple Firsts” For Aaron Rodgers. They are currently the unofficial front runners to pursue Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers will want at least two 1st round picks in a trade for QB Aaron Rodgers, Peter King shares in his column. King adds that Jets owner Woody Johnson would happily pay that price. The question remains if Rodgers even wants to play for NY.
