Marcus Allen is a former American football player who played as a running back. Born in 1960, he began his professional career in 1982, when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Raiders. He stayed with the Raiders till 1992, then played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1993 to 1997. Throughout his career, he broke quite a few records and earned an excellent reputation.

    Marcus Allen Career Highlights

When He Broke the Super Bowl Rushing Record

‌One of Marcus’s many career highlights came in 1984 at Super Bowl XVIII, which was held in Tampa Bay, Florida. It was the Los Angeles Raiders vs the Washington Redskins, with the Raiders ending up winning 38-9. During this match, Marcus set the Super Bowl rushing record, running 191 yards and scoring two touchdowns along the way. He ended up winning the Super Bowl MVP award for this.

When He Was Named the Raiders’ Best-Ever Rookie‌

Marcus holds the distinction of being named the Los Angeles Raiders’ best-ever rookie. He was named this by NFL.com, despite only playing in nine games in his first season. In these games, he racked up some impressive statistics. For example, he had 160 carries for 697 yards and managed 11 touchdowns.

He was able to become the top rookie thanks to his strategic and persevering playing style. It’s how a poker player at needs to withstand a long game or in all sorts of areas of life, from sports to gaming and business – being persistent can be the key.

‌When He Was the Oldest Player to Score 10+ Touchdowns in a Season‌

Another distinction that Marcus holds is being the oldest player ever to score a minimum of 10 touchdowns in a single season. He achieved this at the age of 37 in 1997, which was his last year of playing professional football before he retired.

A few other players have come close to beating this record. Three players have managed 35 touchdowns in a season and a further nine have scored 34. No one has yet managed 36 or even just equaled Marcus’s record.

When He Was Ranked 72nd in the 100 Greatest Football Players

Back in 1999, The Sporting News released its ranking of the 100 greatest football players of all time. Marcus ranked 72nd, which is a sign of how much he had achieved and how well-respected he was in the industry. The ranking process looked at the players’ statistics and performance throughout their professional playing careers.

He would go on to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame four years later in 2003. Then, in 2007, he was inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame. Many years after his retirement, he’s still known for being an excellent rusher and touchdown scorer. His reputation certainly lives on.

    Conclusion

This is just a brief summary of Marcus Allen’s professional football career. Though he hasn’t played in over two decades, he still remains a well-respected player with many records and achievements to his name.
