Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has more than his fair share of doubters. Regardless of how well he played on Friday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, there are still many fans and media personalities continue to doubt and criticize him. However, multiple current and former teammates have, for months, been vocal about how great of a leader and how talented he is.

Kay Adams of FanDuel TV is currently on a road trip visiting several NFL training camps. Today, she visited the New York Jets and, therefore, was talking about Aaron Rodgers and, by association, the Packers and their new starting quarterback.
As a guest, she had former Packers quarterback Kurt Benkert, who is a former teammate of both quarterbacks from his year with Green Bay in 2021. Adams asked Benkert a very straight-forward question: “What is special about Jordan Love?”
Benkert replied:
“I would say his ability to change his arm angle on throws is pretty special. He’s a talented thrower. I’m just excited for him to unleash it on game day when he’s not necessarily having to follow the rules of the system.
“Which like, he’s going to do. He’s going to do a really good job of that. I’m excited to see when he can put his own spin on what that kind of stuff looks like. I think it’s going to be really fun to watch, and I hope it happens sooner rather than later.”
Later in the interview, Benkert said of Love:
“You’re starting to see the elements of his game develop. And I know I’ve been seeing a lot of people calling him something like a game manager and that’s what he’s going to be; but that’s not it.
“He’s got a lot of talent. I think that once he gets some starting reps under his belt that are with his team and his offense, because the offense is going to look different, I think he is going to do well.”
As mentioned, Benkert has been able to see Love’s development up close and personal as they both served as Rodgers’ backups in 2021. He has also published a book called NFL 101 in which he introduces readers into how the game is taught at the NFL level.
In other words, Benkert knows what he is talking about. If he is this high on Jordan Love and the Packers, it is a great sign for good things ahead.
