The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears will kick off their 2023 regular season at 3:25 PM today. The highly anticipated matchup, of course, marks the beginning of the Jordan Love Era in Green Bay. Unfortunately, there are several players that will not be able to be on the field for this changing of the guard.
Of course, wide receiver Christian Watson was ruled out earlier this weekend with a hamstring injury. There will be other players that join him on the inactive list, though not necessarily due to injury.
The Green Bay Packers Inactive List vs the Chicago Bears
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the following Packers players will be inactive against the Bears:
- Christian Watson
- Emanuel Wilson
- Anthony Johnson Jr.
- Zayne Anderson
- Brenton Cox Jr.
- Caleb Jones
- Sean Rhyan
Wilson and Cox are two of the three undrafted free agents that Green Bay took onto their 53-man roster. The other, wide receiver Malik Heath, will suit up for his first NFL regular season game. It is notable that Wilson is not playing after Green Bay elevated running back Patrick Taylor from the practice squad.
Anthony Johnson Jr. is a rookie safety that Green Bay drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Earlier this weekend, the Packers elevated safety Innis Gaines from the practice squad.
Zayne Anderson was a recent waiver wire pickup by the Packers. He likely requires more time to learn the playbook.
Caleb Jones (tackle) and Sean Rhyan (guard) are not needed in this game due to the immense amount of depth the Packers have on their offensive line.
