NFL: The Green Bay Packers are certainly not the only NFC North team going through a significant off-season. While it must be noted, the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, or Minnesota Vikings didn’t trade their franchise quarterback, they have all gone through changes of their own. One of the biggest moves in the division (outside of Aaron Rodgers) was the Minnesota Vikings releasing running back Dalvin Cook. However, they are still hoping to get their star RB back.
Minnesota Vikings Have Offer On The Table For RB Dalvin Cook To Return (NFL)

Before the NFL entered its summer break, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins hinted at a door being left open for Dalvin Cook, who had been released June 9. Now, according to CBS Sports’ Boomer Esiason, the Vikings have offered him a deal, just a month after releasing him.
“There is a $7 million offer on the table for him to accept in Minnesota if he wants to go back — [I] don’t think he wants to go back,” Esiason said on the July 10 episode of WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio,” adding that Cook’s agent is trying to play the offer off other teams to drive a bidding war.
The Minnesota Vikings made it clear they weren’t interested in paying Cook the $10 million he was owed in 2023. However, if the Vikings are going to get him back they are either going to need to up their offer or hope he takes a “hometown discount.” The New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins have all reportedly been interested in the star running back.
What Does This Mean For The Green Bay Packers?

Dalvin Cook was a second round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Cook has 142 rushes, 642 yards, and nine touchdowns in nine career games against the Green Bay Packers. He has rushed for over 100 yards in a game twice in his career against the Packers (2019 and 2020).
The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings have turned into quite the rivalry over the last decade or so. Since 2013, the Packers are 10-8-2 against the Vikings. Over the last few years the Vikings have had a solid rushing attack led by Dalvin Cook. If Cook returned to Minnesota, the Packers would once again have to game plan for the electric running back (at least) twice a year.
