NFL: The Green Bay Packers have been at the center of blockbuster trades over the last two off-seasons. Last year we saw the Packers ship Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for multiple premium draft picks. Of course, this off-season has been headlined by the massive Aaron Rodgers trade that sent him to the New York Jets. As it turns out, the Packers may not be the only ones this off-season to complete a massive trade.
Indianapolis Colts Running Back Jonathan Taylor Granted Trade Request By Team (NFL)
Jordan Sigler of Wisconsin Sports Heroics highlighted the breaking news earlier today:
Relations between Taylor and Colts went sour this summer after the athlete requested a new contract for more money. Per Robin Adams with WSH Media, Colts owner Jim Irsay met with Taylor in late July. Taylor requested a trade following their interaction:
Former Wisconsin Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor has requested a trade away from the team that drafted him, the Indianapolis Colts. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network broke the news on Twitter (now X) this evening
Taylor met with team owner Jim Irsay following Irsay’s controversial statement regarding running backs and their value. Apparently, a face-to-face meeting did nothing to make Taylor feel good about playing for Irsay and the Colts.
Irsay said ridiculous things publicly this summer after reports became public about Taylor’s request. Irsay said no one in the NFL world would miss himself or Taylor if they died this summer before the season.
Taylor has not been at the Colts training camp this summer. And after Irsay’s comments, the Colts owner lucky anyone on the roster showed up to camp at all. On Monday, something changed in the Colts’ handling of the trade matter with Taylor.
Green Bay Packers Fans React To Massive News Regarding The Jonathan Taylor Trade
When Packers fans learned their team may not be the only franchise who conducts a blockbuster trade this off-season, they reacted accordingly on social media:

Maybe it’s just me… but perhaps the best way to help a rookie QB with I only 13 starts in college is to keep an elite level RB around to take some of the burden off him? https://t.co/TqPBfL3jl7

he’s gonna be a Bear or Viking https://t.co/eh9xEonsrg pic.twitter.com/gCSGzYH2AB

I don’t know how likely it is that he actually gets traded but my guesses would be
Miami
Balt
Dallas https://t.co/9m753LAC3T— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) August 21, 2023
Any team trading meaningful draft capital for Taylor would also be signing up for a significant new deal, too. Bears would make a lot of sense given their financial flexibility and desire to surround Justin Fields with help. https://t.co/c2tm1b3diA

The Packers are set at running back in 2023. AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones make one of the best 1-2 punches in the NFL. The likelihood of the Packers being involved in any trade talks for the star running back is next to zero. However, if this is Jones’ last year in Green Bay, don’t be surprised if the Packers look to add to that position next off-season.
