NFL: Green Bay Packers Land Incredible 23-Year-Old Defensive Playmaker (Trade Proposal)

NFL: The Green Bay Packers are entering a new era.  That era may be one where they have to rely on elite defensive play to keep their season alive.  The excitement around new starting quarterback Jordan Love is certainly warranted given his growth sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for three years.  However, it is still unknown if he will be able to lead this team to the playoffs and beyond.  That being said, the Green Bay Packers could make a splash move to secure the middle of their defense for years to come.

Green Bay Packers Land LB Patrick Queen From The Baltimore Ravens In This Blockbuster Trade Proposal

According to a recent projection from Sports Illustrated, linebacker Patrick Queen is among one of ten star players who could switch teams before the start of the regular season.  Queen’s future with the Baltimore Ravens got very murky this off-season.  First, the Raven made a five-year, $100M contract commitment to linebacker Roquan Smith.  Then, the Ravens selected Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson at No. 86 overall in the third round.  Lastly, back in February Patrick Queen wiped his social media of anything related to the Baltimore Ravens.  All signs are pointing to a Ravens – Queen break up.  Could the Green Bay Packers make a splash move?

What Would A Packers – Ravens Trade For Patrick Queen Look Like?

The former first round draft pick (number 28 overall) has lived up to his first round selection.  The Ravens could certainly ask for a “haul” for the young superstar.  In 2024, the Green Bay Packers certainly have the draft capital to put together an appealing trade package Patrick Queen.  This is what our trade proposal looks like:

    Green Bay Packers Receive:

    • ILB Patrick Queen

    Baltimore Ravens Receive:

    • 2024 Conditional Second Round Draft Pick That Becomes A First If Aaron Rodgers Plays 65% of the snaps in 2023 (from NYJ)
    • 2024 Third Round Draft Pick
    • 2024 Sixth Round Draft Pick

In a draft (2024) where the Green Bay Packers are predicted to have three compensatory picks added, trading away two picks in the first three rounds seems like a steal for a player who could anchor their defense for years to come.

How Would Patrick Queen Fit With The Packers Defense? (NFL)

2021 saw the Green Bay Packers’ defense improve drastically due to premier inside linebacker play.  De’Vondre Campbell proved to be the missing piece for a defense that absolutely needed a centerpiece.  Campbell (30) is currently under contract through the 2026 NFL season.  Quay Walker is entering just his second season with the Green Bay Packers with a possible four more (if the Packers utilize the fifth year option).

An immediate rotation of Queen, Campbell, and Walker would be the deepest and most dynamic in the league.  A long-term future of Walker and Queen would have the possibility of being one of the best duos in teh NFL. This would certainly require the Green Bay Packers to invest a significant portion of their cap space to the ILB position, something they haven’t done in the past.  However, the potential for these players being centerpieces together for years to come would be hard to pass up.
