Despite Jordan Love’s struggles in Week 14 against the New York Giants, former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers still sees great things ahead for the young signal-caller.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Rodgers was asked again about Love and his current performance for the Packers. While the 25-year-old rising star had been on a tear prior to their Monday Night Football game, he crashed back to Earth after Tommy DeVito and the Giants outshined him.
Love finished with 218 yards, one touchdown and one interception after completing just 25 of his 39 passes. The Packers end up losing as well via a Randy Bullock field goal as time expired.
Rodgers, however, isn’t one bit concerned about Love’s uncharacteristic showing in the contest. He understands it’s part of the growing pains as a first-time starter, and he’s confident Love will be able to get through it.
The Packers icon also shared that Love has the right people and environment in Green Bay to thrive for a long time.
“Jordan Love holds himself to a high standard, but I think everything is in place for him to be a starter at a high level for a long, long time,” Rodgers told McAfee, adding that he’s in good hands under Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements.

Aaron Rodgers’ Plea Amid Jordan Love Overreactions from Green Bay Packers Fans
While Aaron Rodgers is not too concerned about the up-and-downs in Jordan Love’s first season as a full-time starter for the Green Bay Packers, he still reiterated his previous message about the overreactions surrounding the youngster’s improved play.
For those who missed it, Rodgers warned Packers fans not to crown the former Utah State standout too early and put a ton of pressure on his still-inexperienced shoulders. Rodgers emphasized that mistakes are bound to happen and there will be tons of struggles in Love’s future, and putting a lot of expectations on him isn’t good for his growth.
“He’s playing, especially the last three games, outstanding. But, he’s in his first year starting. As well as he’s playing, can we not crown him right now? For his own sake. Because, we shouldn’t do that to kids. We shouldn’t crown them, and we shouldn’t cancel them,” Rodgers said of Love.
“I love Jordan and I think he’s gonna be a great player in the league for a long time, but can we let him play his career?”
Rodgers certainly couldn’t have said it any better. While it will definitely be nice to see Love succeed quickly, it isn’t really that easy. With that said, all Packers fans can do is be patient with him and cheer for him regardless of the results.
