In his 13th game as the full-time starter, Jordan Love failed to lead the Green Bay Packers to victory and lost to the New York Giants via a game-winning field goal as time expired. If that scenario feels familiar, however, it’s because the same thing happened to Aaron Rodgers.
Elisha Twerski of USA Today shared the interesting tidbit, noting that in Rodgers’ 13th game as a full-time starter as well, he and the Packers also lost through a walkoff field goal. Green Bay faced the Houston Texans in the said game.
“In Aaron Rodgers’ 13th game as starter, the Packers lost on a game-winning field goal as time expired,” Twershki wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “In Jordan Love’s 13th game as starter, the Packers lost on a game-winning field goal as time expired. Life comes full circle.”
Against the Giants, Love and the Packers struggled to counter Tommy DeVito’s efficient play. It certainly didn’t help that Love struggled mightily connecting the ball with his teammates, finishing on 25-of-39 pass completion for 218 yards and one touchdown against one interception.
Randy Bullock eventually finished the game with a 37-yard field goal as time expired.
Meanwhile, in Rodgers’ case, he and the Packers lost 24-21 to the Texans back in 2008. With the game tied at 21-21, Houston got within field goal range and had Kris Brown hit the 40-yard game-winner.
If there is one thing going for Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers, it’s the fact that they are already 6-7 on the season and have a chance to win more. Aaron Rodgers and the 2008 iteration of the team finished with a 6-10 record.
Jordan Love Staying Positive for Green Bay Packers
Despite the loss to the New York Giants, Jordan Love is not panicking. They are still in the hunt for a postseason spot, and the young quarterback is confident the Green Bay Packers can bounce back.
Love said as much while talking to reporters postgame, expressing his belief on the team and what they are capable of.
“Obviously we’re a team that’s been in this situation,” Love shared. “We’ve lost some tough games and been able to bounce back. We’ll be able to bounce back next week.”
For what it’s worth, in Aaron Rodgers’ 14th start, he and the Packers lost again to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hopefully, Love and Co. also won’t replicate that.
