The New York Giants finished last season with a 9-7-1 record and in third place in the NFC East, but they were a playoff team and even got to the divisional round. New York will have a tougher schedule in Brian Daboll’s second season as head coach of this football team. The Giants are trending in the right direction, and they have not been talked about as much on New York sports radio compared to Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
One WFAN Radio Host, Gio, believes that the New York Giants could potentially reach the double-digit win mark this season. He said on Tuesday morning,
“Oh yeah, easily…10-7, just like that. I got them off to a 3-2 start.”
The first five games of the 2023 season for the Giants will be the Dallas Cowboys, the Arizona Cardinals, the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Miami Dolphins. Four of those five teams were playoff teams a season ago, and the team the Giants have after those five is also the Buffalo Bills, who also made the playoffs last season.
Gio thinks that the New York Giants will only get better in year 2 under head coach Brian Daboll. Gio also said:
“This one is drawing me in. Year two under Brian Daboll, a 17-game season, I am all in on the Giants over 7.5 wins.”
The New York Giants Season Rides On Quarterback Daniel Jones
The reason why the Giants made the playoffs last season was because Daniel Jones took care of the football. If he does the same thing as last season with keeping the turnovers down, the Giants will be back in the playoffs this season and can very well win 10 games with a brutal schedule.
However, there will need to be more production from him in the passing game this season if they want to improve. The defense will be better, and Daniel Jones now has Darren Waller and rookie Jalin Hyatt in the passing game. Saquon Barkley is one of the best running backs in the league when healthy. General manager Joe Schoen has done a good job of fixing this roster, also.
When it comes down to the New York Giants schedule, the good news is that they don’t face the Philadelphia Eagles until Week 16 of the season, and New York could have a playoff spot locked up by then if things go well. Some of the winnable games on their schedule are also the Washington Commanders twice, the Green Bay Packers, the Los Angeles Rams, the New England Patriots, and the Las Vegas Raiders.
The New York Giants could very well win 10 games this season. Also, they can very well regress because the schedule is tougher, but the most important thing will be how they perform against the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. Gio is not crazy for thinking the Giants will win 10 games this season, but they can also not reach that mark as well.
