NBA rumors: The Golden State Warriors revamped their backcourt with the addition of 12-time All-Star Chris Paul this summer. In order to acquire the services of the point god, the Dubs had to part ways with Jordan Poole, who has now taken his talents to the Washington Wizards.
As it turns out, the Warriors are still planning to add at least one more piece before the new season starts. This could come in the form of former Milwaukee Bucks swingman Tony Snell, who is reportedly set for a tryout with Golden State.
NBA Rumors: Warriors Looking to Shore Up Backcourt Rotation
Snell is not the only player who the Warriors will be looking at, though. NBA guru Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that a handful of other players are also set to tryout with the team in the coming weeks. Needless to say, Snell will have a lot of competition in front of him:
“The Warriors are holding free-agent workouts with veterans Dion Waiters, Tony Snell, Kent Bazemore, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Harry Giles and Trey Burke at facility over next two weeks, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater. GS has multiple round of workouts to identify signings,” Shams wrote in his tweet.
Juan Toscano-Anderson and Kent Bazemore are two names that stand out here, primarily because of the fact that they’ve already suited up for the Warriors in the past. The front office already know what to expect from these two, which means that they could have the upper hand. Snell will have a tall task ahead of him if he wants to secure that available roster spot.
Tony Snell’s Three-Year Stint With Bucks
The last we saw Tony Snell in the NBA was during the 2021-22 season with the New Orleans Pelicans. He was not able to secure a contract with any team last season, and he is now hoping for an NBA comeback this term.
Snell, who started off his career as the Chicago Bulls’ No. 20 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, played three seasons for the Milwaukee Bucks between 2016 and 2019. During that span, the 6-foot-6 guard/forward put up averages of 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds, while also knocking down 1.5 triples per game on an efficient 40.3 percent clip.
In 2019, the Bucks traded him to the Detroit Pistons along with Kevin Porter Jr. in exchange for Jon Leuer. Snell has also had stints with the Atlanta Hawks and the Portland Trail Blazers.
