NBA news: The Boston Celitcs lost a major piece in their rotation after Grant Williams decided to move on to greener pastures. This turned out to be a four-year deal worth $53 million, which the 24-year-old will now earn from the Dallas Mavericks.
For their part, the Mavs wasted no time welcoming their newest offseason recruit. Williams’ former teammate, Jayson Tatum, caught wind of the welcome post on social media and the Celtics superstar could not help but flame Williams over it.
NBA News: Jayson Tatum Dunks On Grant Williams’ Mavs Welcome Post
The Mavs shared a photo of Williams wearing his new threads on Twitter. The 6-foot-6 power forward looked particularly swole in the picture, which clearly caught Tatum’s attention. The Boston talisman could not help but clown his ex-teammate with a savage jab:
“Lol mf you ain’t this strong,” Tatum wrote in his comment.

Grant clapped back with his own remark, which in truth, was a pretty formidable counterpunch. However, there’s no denying that Jayson Tatum’s savagery had him winning this round.
NBA News: Will Celtics Struggle Vs. Bucks Sans Grant Williams?
The fact that Tatum can deliver this type of jab at the expense of Williams just goes to show what kind of relationship these two have. They may no longer be teammates, but the bond they formed is not something that will not be easily broken.
Be that as it may, the fact of the matter is that Grant Williams is a huge loss for Boston. He was a key part of their success last season as they surpassed the Milwaukee Bucks for the top seed in the East down the stretch. We fully expect a similar battle for supremacy between these two elite Eastern Conference teams this coming season.
While they may have lost Williams to the Mavs, Boston was able to bring in Kristaps Porzingis. The 7-foot-3 big man is a massive upgrade for Boston’s frontcourt, and surely, they’re going to give Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks quite a challenge in 2023-24.
