NBA News: The Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards pulled off a blockbuster trade that sent Bradley Beal to the Suns. The trade also sent Chris Paul to the Washington Wizards along with a slew of draft picks. Many thought the Wizards didn’t get nearly enough in return for a 29-year-old three-time all-star which started a controversial trade rumor. Either way, the trade is complete, and Paul is a Wizard. For now. The Wizards are reportedly trading Chris Paul to a contender.
NBA News: Chris Paul Expected To Be Traded To Los Angeles Clippers
In a last minute twist, Chris Paul looks to be headed to the Los Angeles Clippers as apart of the blockbuster trade that will eventually (officially) send Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns. The Washington Wizards were prepared to acquire Paul as a part of the deal, where he would be an expiring contract for a team that badly needs to reboot their roster.
Are The Los Angeles Wizards A Done Deal In The Trade?
As of the time this article, no other teams seem to be interested in Chris Paul the way the Clippers are. Paul played with the Clippers from 2011-2017, where he was named an NBA All-Star in five of his six seasons in Los Angeles, helping lead the organization to the Western Conference Semifinals on three occasions.
With that being said, the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers have been named as possible destinations as well for the 12-time all-star. The Heat had been considered one of the top two landing spots, alongside Phoenix, for Bradley Beal this summer. Getting Chris Paul wouldn’t be the same, but it would provide depth at a key position.
The Athletic’s Jovan Buha reported that the Lakers would be interested in signing Paul if he were to be waived, but maybe they could work out a deal for the veteran point guard instead.
