NBA news: For most players, there is one specific moment in their career when they realize that it’s time to hang it up. This was exactly the case for former Milwaukee Bucks guard Jeff Teague, who recently revealed on a podcast how a pair of young rising stars in the league led to his decision to retire from the game of basketball.
NBA News: Jeff Teague Spills On Darius Garland, De’Aaron Fox’s Impact on Career
In terms of his decision to call it a career at the age of 33, Teague credits Cleveland Cavaliers star Darius Garland. Apparently, the Cavs guard proved too much for him to handle. At that point in his career, however, Tegaue had already come to an earlier realization about not being able to hack it anymore — thanks to Sacramento Kings All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox:
“[De’Aaron Fox] and Darius Garland retired me,” Teague said on the Club 520 Podcast (h/t Jeff Smith of SI) “… Fox made me wanna go to the bench… He was running so fast one game, he just kept running at me … my knees still suffering from them change of directions. He was running so fast I’m like, ‘What did I do to him?'” Teague said.
“But I remember I dunked on [Fox] … but after that, he tried to kill me.”
When @teague0 decided it was time 😂
It’s crazy Sacramento had both Fox & Halliburton !

You have to give credit to Jeff Teague here for his brutal honesty here. Obviously, this man has no insecurities about what he’s already achieved in the NBA. So much so, that he’s more than willing to call a spade a spade — even at his own expense.
NBA News: Jeff Teague Retired at the Perfect Time
To be fair to Jeff Teague, this man called time on his career at the perfect time. This was after spending his final season with the Milwaukee Bucks. While this was the shortest stint in his colorful 12-year career (he only played 21 games with the Bucks that season) it has to be the most rewarding. After all, the former All-Star point guard won his one and only career championship with Milwaukee that year. Talk about ending on a high note.
