NBA news: According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the best player who changed teams during the offseason is Kristaps Porzingis, who will now be suiting up for the Boston Celtics in the upcoming campaign. Among the Top 10 list, there is one particular player that will pique the interest of Milwaukee Bucks fans everywhere.
NBA News: Donte DiVincenzo Ranks Highly on List of Players Who Changed Teams This Summer
Fred VanVleet, who is now with the Houston Rockets, ranks just below Porzingis on the list. Bradley Beal, Chris Paul, and Marcu Smart round out the Top 5.
Sitting at No. 9, however, is former Bucks fan favorite Donte DiVincenzo, who left the Golden State Warriors this summer in favor of a move to the New York Knicks. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard penned a four-year deal with the Knicks amounting to $50 million, which is, by and large, the biggest payday of his career.
Buckley points out that DiVincenzo bet on himself last season by signing a short-term deal with Golden State. His bold decision paid off for him in a major way as the 26-year-old proved to be integral to the Dubs’ success last term. He now hopes to bring this same fire to the table in New York.
NBA News: Did Bucks Have Shot at Donte DiVincenzo Reunion?
Bucks fans would have surely welcomed DiVincenzo back with open arms if the team signed him via free agency. The former Villanova standout spent the first three and a half years of his career in Milwaukee, which included an NBA championship in 2021. The following season, the Bucks decided to ship him off to the Sacramento Kings in a four-team trade that saw Milwaukee net Serge Ibaka and two future second-round picks.
Unfortunately for the Bucks, they just didn’t have enough financial flexibility to sign DiVincenzo this summer. Milwaukee had their own free agents to deal with, making an emotional reunion with their former 17th overall pick virtually impossible.
