MLB News: The Los Angeles Angels are officially buyers at this year’s trade deadline. A report surfaced last in the night on Wednesday, July 26 in which that development also revealed that Shohei Ohtani is off the trade block. LA wasted no time confirming that rumor as they swung an incredible trade with the Chicago White Sox that landed them two pitchers.

Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez were traded from the Chicago White Sox to the Los Angeles Angels (MLB News).
Both Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez are impending free agents and are win-now pieces that will be joining the Halos. Giolito is a starting pitcher and Lopez is a high velocity reliever. Both pitchers possess great swing and miss stuff and should be key contributors over the last two months of the season.
In exchange for these two players LA sent prospects Edgar Quero and Ky Bush. Edgar Quero is one of baseball’s top catching prospects and is just 20 years old. Ky Bush is a 6’6″ left-handed pitcher who has the stuff to stick around as a starting pitcher. He was a second round selection in the 2021 draft.
Overall this is a big move from the Los Angeles Angels and a very solid return package for the White Sox. LA is going all in during Shohei Ohtani’s final few months before free agency, so it is quite possible that they are not done making moves.
