MLB News: Miguel Cabrera is in the midst of his 21st big league season. All of them have been played with the Florida Marlins and Detroit Tigers. Of his many career accomplishments he recently moved into a tie with a Milwaukee Brewers legend for the 19th most career hits.
Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera has tied Milwaukee Brewers legend Robin Yount on the all-time hits leaderboard (MLB News).
At the time of this publication Miguel Cabrera had 3,142 career hits. This ties him with Brewers legend Robin Yount for the 19th most hits all-time. In total only 33 ball players have eclipsed the 3,000 hit mark and just two have over 4,000 hits.
Cabrera and Yount never squared off against one another, but both have won MVP awards and multiple silver sluggers. Yount never won a batting title throughout his career whereas Cabrera has won it on four different occasions. Interestingly Yount’s single season high for hits collected is 210 and Cabrera’s is 205.
Next on the all-time hits leaderboard for Miguel Cabrera to chase is Paul Waner at 3152 hits. George Brett is 18th at 3154 hits, Adrian Beltre 17th with 3166, and Cal Ripken Jr 16th at 3184 hits. It will be interesting to see how far up this list he can climb before he retires at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
