In a move to shore up their bullpen, the Milwaukee Milkmen have added right handed relief pitcher Hansel Rodriguez. The move comes as the season is just weeks away. Rodriguez was acquired from the New Jersey Jackals for Keon Barnum. His ERA numbers are eye-popping.

🚨 We have executed a trade with the New Jersey Jackals and acquired RHP Hansel Rodriguez 🚨

Rodriguez was signed in 2014 by the Toronto Blue Jays organization and played in their Rookie, AA, and A affiliate organizations! ⚾️

Rodriguez is a hard throwing pitcher who spent some time in both the Blue Jays organization and the Padres organization. The 26 year old is from the Dominican Republic. He had a 1.94 ERA with New Jersey last season. One would think he would help add depth to the Milkmen staff, along with providing some pop at the back end of their bullpen.

    What the Milkmen traded away?

To get a good pitcher you do have to give something up. The Milkmen traded fan favorite infielder Keon Barnum. Barnum was drafted in the 1st round by the Chicago White Sox in the 2012 MLB June Amateur draft. He hit .265 for Milwaukee last season. The Tampa Bay native is 30 years old.

One could speculate the move may have been to free up some space for newly acquired infielder Drew Ward.

The team continues to add new players to shape up and shore up its roster. The Milwaukee Milkmen, located in Franklin Wisconsin, will open their season on the road May 12th.

Last year was a good year for the Milkmen.  However they were not 2022 playoff champions last season in the American Association of Professional Baseball. One would think that would be the goal for this year. Last year’s playoff champs were the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. Milwaukee did have a strong season and expect to be competitive again. The club prides itself on a great game day experience.
