There are a couple of areas the Milwaukee Bucks will want to work on ahead of what they’re hoping will be another extended postseason run this season. At this point, one could argue that we’ve seen enough from the Bucks to determine the most important needs this team could consider addressing as we approach the February trade deadline.
For most folks, defense is the first thing that comes to mind. This does not come as a complete surprise considering how Jrue Holiday’s summer departure led to a decline in the Bucks’ effectiveness on the defensive end this season.
Should Milwaukee Bucks Trade for PJ Tucker?
One player that is now being linked to Milwaukee is veteran forward P.J. Tucker. The 6-foot-5 swingman is currently plying his trade with the Los Angeles Clippers after he was recently sent to LA as part of the James Harden blockbuster deal.
Jonas Panerio of FanNation believes that Tucker could help fill the void the Bucks currently have on the defensive end:
“This is where Tucker can help; a 12-year veteran who helped the Bucks win the NBA title in 2021, his savvy and experience can help the team improve their defensive prowess, especially in the NBA Playoffs when the games tend to slow down and become more physical,” Panerio wrote.
As Panerio points out, Tucker was a key piece of Milwaukee’s historic championship run in 2021. He joined the team in the middle of that season, and while he wasn’t exactly a star, the NBA journeyman played a key role in Milwaukee’s title conquest.
There’s also no denying, however, that at 38, Tucker is no spring chicken. The Bucks won’t need him to play heavy minutes, though, and a lot of his value could also be found in his veteran experience and unbridled toughness — both on and off the court.
