The Milwaukee Bucks know what they’re getting with Patrick Beverley. They did their due diligence on the 35-year-old before they traded for him, which is a decision that required a lengthy and deliberative thought process.
It’s not as if Beverley is a mysterious figure, either. This man has built quite a reputation for himself through the years — one that Pat Bev himself isn’t shying away from.
Patrick Beverley Knows What He Brings to the Table for Milwaukee Bucks
Beverley isn’t denying that fact that he’s a totally polarizing individual — perhaps one of the most in NBA history. While the 6-foot-2 combo guard is the no-nonsense type of person, he also admits that he’s being very conscious about not rubbing his new teammates the wrong way:
“You have to walk a rope of being yourself but…” Beverley said on a recent episode of the Pat Bev Pod. “Especially me, I’m a polarizing figure. It’s like either you love me or you hate me, unfortunately, but that’s how it is. So, it’s understanding what are the buttons to push. What are the things to say. What are the do’s. What are the don’ts.”
Even a guy like Beverley knows that he has limits. He isn’t afraid to test them and to push them at times, but at the end of the day, he knows that he can’t cross a line — especially with his own teammates.
“I’m always coming from a place of trying to win,” he continued. “I don’t know. Sometimes, maybe my delivery can be loud, but I always tell people, ‘Don’t look at the delivery, look at the message.'”
