It’s always extra special for Milwaukee Bucks sharpshooter Pat Connaughton when they get to face off against the Boston Celtics. The Arlington, Massachusets native pretty much grew up in Boston and he’s never been shy about his close ties to the city.
Be that as it may, it is abundantly clear where his loyalty lies.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Pat Connaughton Sends Message to Boston
Connaughton recently spoke out about how he’s always looked forward to playing against the Celtics. Matching up against them at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee is great, but for the 30-year-old vet, it’s even better to battle Boston on their own home floor:
“I’m a Boston kid and so I’ve always said when we play [the Celtics] in the playoffs, we play them in the regular season, it’s really cool moments for me to be able to play in The Garden, to play against them here in Milwaukee,” Connaughton said.
“… There’s nothing better than hearing the Boston Garden quiet when you’re walking out of there.”
Connaughton obviously relishes the opportunity to come back home to Boston whenever he gets the chance. However, what makes it extra special for him is how the Bucks are able to shut down Celtics fans in their own building whenever Milwaukee defeats their beloved team.
Pat Connaughton Opens Up on Jrue Holiday Trade
One of the biggest storylines surrounding Wednesday’s marquee matchup is the fact that Jrue Holiday will get to rekindle some old flames. The two-time All-Star gets to face his former team for the first time since his offseason exit — a turn of events that Connaughton himself remembers all too well:
“It’s like a movie. It’s like a soap opera, whatever you wanna call it,” Connaughton said. “It’s crazy. I told him, obviously, if you need anything in Boston let me know. And to take it easy on me when we play ’em. But it will be great.”

You have to give Connaughton credit for looking out for Holiday, but I don’t think his former teammate will adhere to his latter request about taking it easy when they face off on the basketball court.
