It’s now both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard who are in a race to fitness as they look to help the Milwaukee Bucks stave off elimination when they take on the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of their first-round series on Tuesday.
At this point, the Bucks are just one loss away from seeing their season come to a highly disappointing end, and it goes without saying that it would be even more frustrating if their two superstars weren’t even able to play in their final game of the campaign.
Milwaukee Bucks News: ‘Pessimism’ Surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard’s Status for Game 5
NBA insider Shams Charania recently provided an update on the status of Giannis and Dame heading into Tuesday night. Unfortunately, it’s not exactly the type of news Bucks fans want to hear at the moment:
“[Giannis Antetokounmpo] just started running over the weekend, and Damian Lillard was in a boot, he’s out of the boot now, he’s doing some underwater running,” Shams said. “… But given that game 5 is just one day away, there is obviously pessimism and some doubt over their status.”

There is doubt that Bucks All-Stars Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf strain) and Damian Lillard (Achilles tendon strain) will be able to play in potential elimination Game 5 vs. Pacers on Tuesday down 3-1, sources say. Both have tricky strains that complicate returns and create risk. pic.twitter.com/O235igT1D7

To be clear, there has been no confirmation as of yet from the Bucks as of yet with regard to the availability of their two superstars for Game 5. The team will obviously do everything they can to get both Antetokounmpo and Lillard ready for that season-defining contest, but at this point, there is a distinct possibility that both of them won’t be able to suit up in what could be Milwaukee’s last game of 2023-24.
