For the eighth time in his NBA career, Milwaukee Bucks superstar guard Damian Lillard is an All-Star. He will also be starting for the Eastern Conference squad, which appears to be dividing basketball fans. While some believe Lillard deserves to be a starter for the East team, others think that New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson should have had Lillard’s spot on the first-five unit. Among them is NBA expert Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.

In a post on X ( the social media platform formerly known as Twitter), O’Connor called Lillard winning a starter role over Brunson a “crime.”

O’Connor may have a case, but what is undeniable is that Lillard has more fan votes than Brunson. Lillard is ranked third among East guards in fan votes, while Brunson is only fifth. Fan votes account for 50 percent of the equation that determines who starts for the East and West squads. However, Brunson ranks higher than Lillard in terms of player and media votes.

In his first season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Lillard is averaging 25.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game, while shooting 42.6 percent from the floor. Brunson, on the other hand, is making 26.5 points, 3.8 boards, and 6.4 dimes per outing, while posting a 47.8 field-goal percentage.
