It comes as no surprise that Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named a starter for the NBA All-Star Game in Indiana. After all, the former back-to-back MVP had been the top vote-getter from the get-go.
The big news for the Bucks is that now-eight-time All-Star Damian Lillard will be joining Giannis as a starter for the East. This will be the first time in his illustrious career that Dame has been named as an All-Star starter.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Will Start NBA All-Star Game
The East starters were announced on Thursday evening with Giannis leading the pack as the team captain. In a rather surprising turn of events, Lillard will now be joining his superstar teammate in the All-Star starting five:

Joining Giannis and Dame in the starting lineup are Jayson Tatum, reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Haliburton.
Haliburton led the votes as the first of two backcourt players in the East. The second and final backcourt spot was a tight race between Lillard and Atlanta Hawks stud Trae Young. In fact, it was Young who had a lead over Lillard in the third and final fan returns.
It is worth noting, however, that the fan votes comprise 50% of the final tally. The players and the media vote get 25% apiece, and it is now clear that his peers and the members of the press have Dame edging out Trae Young for the final spot in the starting lineup.
