Tyler Herro is very much looking forward to facing off against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night. Born and raised in Milwaukee, the 23-year-old will get a chance to play in his hometown for the first time this season.
Needless to say, there are a lot going through his mind ahead of what seems like an emotional homecoming for the Heat star.
Tyler Herro ‘Excited’ for Milwaukee Bucks Mathcup
Herro always has Miami’s road games in Milwaukee circled in his calendar, so it’s an added bonus for him that he gets to go home to play early on in the season.
“Definitely excited,” Herro said, via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “Any time I can play at home in front of my family and my friends is always fun. You know, it’s definitely been in the back of my mind for a couple different reasons. It will be a good game to bounce back after tonight, so I’m excited for it.”
Herro made his statement after the Heat’s 106-90 blowout loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. The former Sixth Man of the Year Winner actually put in a noteworthy effort against the Wolves, finishing with 22 points, four triples, five rebounds, and four assists in 40 minutes of play.
The Heat, however, just could not hold back Anthony Edwards and Co. in what turned out to be a lopsided matchup.
As he said, Herro is now looking forward to getting back to winning ways at the expense of the Bucks on Monday.
Added Motivation
Herro did not deny that there’s also some extra motivation for him heading into Monday’s contest in Milwaukee:
“Of course,” Herro said. “Every game is another opportunity to prove ourselves, prove myself. You see, obviously, the reasons that are on my mind. I’m just excited to be back in Milwaukee and playing.”
The fact that he will be playing in front of his family and friends is obviously a big part of all this but at the same time, there’s also the underlying narrative surrounding Damian Lillard.
Herro was supposed to be Miami’s centerpiece in their botched Dame trade pursuit, so you just know that Herro is probably relishing the opportunity to go up against the new Milwaukee superstar.
