The Milwaukee Bucks were on the clock. They had until Tuesday to make a decision on the future of second-year swingman MarJon Beauchamp and the team option of his contract for next season.
It took them a bit of time, but Milwaukee eventually decided to pick up Beauchamp’s deal for 2023-24.
Milwaukee Bucks Pick Up Option on MarJon Beauchamp
It was Bucks beat reporter Eric Nehm of The Athletic who broke the news on Tuesday evening via Twitter:
“The Bucks have picked up the third-year option on MarJon Beauchamp, per a league source,” Nehm wrote in his tweet.
This does not come as a major surprise considering how Beauchamp is arguably Milwaukee’s top young prospect. The Bucks have a very experienced roster for the 2023-24 season and they have a limited supply of young talent.
This is likely why the front office decided to pick up Beauchamp’s team option for next season as they look to see what this young man can do.
Beauchamp, who had very few opportunities in his rookie year under former coach Mike Budenholzer, is expected to play a bigger role for the Bucks this season.
He missed Monday’s win against the Miami Heat due to an illness, but he is probable to play on Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors. In two games played so far this season, the former Yakima Valley Community College standout has averaged 6.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 16.5 minutes off the bench.
Bucks Fans React
The general reaction from Milwaukee supporters is that this is the absolute right decision by the team. Beauchamp has a lot of untapped potential in him, and the fans are excited to see how he can contribute to the squad this coming season.
