The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the most talked about teams in the NBA this season. Of course, that started early with the hiring of Adrian Griffin and then the trade for superstar point guard Damian Lillard. Even though Milwaukee got off to a good start, at least record-wise, it was clear that there was something not right with the team. For whatever reason, they were not tapping into their full potential.
Evidently, the Bucks’ front office and ownership group felt the same, and Griffin was fired after starting the year 30-13. The decision to part ways with their rookie head coach halfway through the season has been praised by some who admire the dedication to winning now, but criticized by others who are worried about the precedent it sets.
As Doc Rivers has taken over, the Bucks continue to try and figure out who they are and how to best play together. The addition of Patrick Beverley ahead of the trade deadline showed that Milwaukee is still striving for excellence, particularly on the defensive end.
The trade paid immediate dividends as the Bucks blew out the short-handed Charlotte Hornets 120-84 on Friday night. It was Beverley’s first game and Milwaukee showed an intensity on both sides of the floor that, frankly, had been lacking. Lost in the win, however, was a pretty significant achievement by shooting guard Malik Beasley.
Malik Beasley Breaks a Milwaukee Bucks Record Previously Held by Ray Allen
In the 120-84 victory, Beasley had 21 points while making seven of his nine three point shots. It was the 13th game this season in which Malik Threes-ley has made at least five three point shots. This broke the franchise record for 12 such games, previously held by Ray Allen:

So far this season, Beasley is averaging 11.4 points per game while shooting a career-best 44% from three. Along with Lillard, he will be participating in the NBA Three-Point Contest during the All-Star Game festivities.
What is so astounding about Beasley’s record being broken now is that the Bucks have 29 games left to play in the season. There is still time for him to extend that record by a considerable amount.
Interestingly, Bucks center Brook Lopez is third on that list with nine such games in a season. One might have expected sharpshooters like Michael Redd, Glenn Robinson, or Sam Cassell on that list.
For those wondering, Lillard has six games with at least five three-point shots made this season.
