When it comes to the breaking news in the NBA, there is Shams Charania of The Athletic and there is Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Then there’s the rest of us. Oh, wait. We now have to include the Milwaukee Bucks’ shiny new point guard Patrick Beverley in that group after he just broke the news of his trade ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

Of course, it makes a lot of sense that Beverley would know of the trade before anyone does — before either Charania or Wojnarowski even gets a sniff of it. Then again, there have been instances of players knowing that it’s time to pack their bags and move into another NBA city through updates from the two breaking news superstars. But not Beverley. He knew and he let the rest of the world know it right away.
Beverley was among the many players who will have to adjust to a new NBA environment after another busy trade deadline, as the Philadelphia 76ers decided to send him to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for backup point guard Cam Payne and a future pick in the 2027 NBA Draft (second-rounder). Getting traded isn’t a new experience for Beverley, though. He’s been traded multiple times before. Moreover, he’s also not a stranger to a Doc Rivers-coached squad, having played under the veteran head coach for years before when the two were still with the Los Angeles Clippers.
