The Milwaukee Bucks season has yet to conclude but there are already NBA Mock Drafts being predicted for the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. According to a CBS Sports NBA Mock Draft, they have the Bucks selecting 25th overall in the first round.
With that selection, they would be picking Tyler Smith, a power forward from the G-League Ignite. He is 6’11” and weighs 224 lbs. This year with the G-League Ignite, he averaged 13.8 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 1.0 APG and also shot 35.6% from three-point land.
According to CBS Sports, he is the 16th-ranked prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft and also the third-ranked prospect at the power forward position. Kyle Boone of CBS Sports has the Milwaukee Bucks making this selection and he wrote:
“Smith is a stretch big who has quietly had a strong season for G League Ignite shooting it from deep and showcasing his athleticism. He has a five-star pedigree and has flashed enough to get first round looks for a team in this range looking to develop a big for the future.”
The Milwaukee Bucks need to surround Giannis Antetokounmpo with shooters on the outside. Why they would also need to make this move because Khris Middleton is injury prone and they are getting older and the Bucks do need to get younger.
The Milwaukee Bucks Need To Find Young Talent In the 2024 NBA Draft Whether It Is Tyler Smith or Not
Tyler Smith is only 19 years old and will have an upside to be successful at the next level. Whether the Milwaukee Bucks draft him or not, they need to find young talent for the future. Some of the players that will hit the free agent market this summer for Milwaukee are Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Jae Crowder, and Pat Connaughton.
If they were not to draft Tyler Smith, some of the other players they could potentially look at are center Zach Edey from Purdue, shooting guard Johnny Furphy from Kansas, or Tyler Kolek from Marquette. Bucks scouts have probably seen Kolek play this season and Milwaukee could use a backup point guard for Damian Lillard.
That has been one of the biggest problems this season for the Bucks. Also, drafting Tyler Smith would also help their shooting from the outside. General manager Jon Horst will need to adjust the roster in the offseason. MarJon Beauchamp has played in 46 games this season and is only 23 years old, but will need more time to develop.
Beauchamp and who they draft in 2024 will need to be a part of the rotation in the future. The Milwaukee Bucks are in win-now mode with Giannis Antetokounmpo but do need to get younger on the roster.
