Tuesday’s high-profile bout between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat had no shortage of action. After Milwaukee mounted a significant lead early on, Miami crawled their way back to push the Bucks all the way to the end.
Ultimately, it was Milwaukee that prevailed in this one, 131-124, en route to logging a 2-0 series advantage over their East rivals on the season.
Khris Middleton Speaks Out on Milwaukee Bucks’ Clutch Play
With a little less than a minute and a half remaining in the game and the Bucks up by just two points, Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo flexed their unbridled chemistry to take the Bucks home.
Milwaukee decided to use the two-man game with Middleton and Antetokounmpo busting out their famed pick-and-roll against the Heat. Middleton ended up throwing what looked like a dangerous pass to his partner-in-crime, which ultimately proved to be an excellent decision.
“It’s trust and just knowing where the high jumper is. Bam was on me, so I know if I get it over him, not many guys are gonna be able to jump and compete with Giannis at the rim,” Middleton said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “So, I put it somewhere where he could grab it up high. More times than not, he’s going to come down with it or get a foul like he did.”
Middleton threw a perfectly placed pass that only Giannis could get up and reach. True enough, Antetokounmpo got fouled and he sank both free throws to give the Bucks a four-point advantage.
These types of plays just go to show how much these two stars know each others’ games. You don’t pull off that play unless you have an innate understanding of how your teammate operates — an incredible connection that Middleton and Antetokounmpo have clearly established through the years.
