Christmas Day has come and gone again this year. For the Milwaukee Bucks, their loss against the New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden on Monday put a sour note on what should have been a festive celebration.
The Bucks organization, however, allowed the players and the staff to bring their families with them during the New York trip, which surely softened the blow of their deflating Christmas Day loss against one of their Eastern Conference rivals.
Family First for Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton
2023 is far from the first time the Bucks play on Christmas Day. According to Middleton, he’s seen to it that he spends the holiday with his family despite the rigors of NBA life. This year was no different.
“I think every time we play on Christmas most of the guys have their family with them, at least I have,” Middleton said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I think that’s most important no matter where we’re at, that on holidays you spend time with you family even if you gotta work. But it is weird that we’re in New York for what, four or five days. That usually doesn’t happen to us.”
Unfortunately for the Bucks, they did not get their desired result on Christmas Day against the Knicks. However, the fact that they were still able to celebrate with their respective families while on the road made the experience much better than it would have been.
Business Is Business
Middleton himself made it clear, however, that the players haven’t lost sight of the task at hand. At the end of the day, they haven’t forgotten why they’re spending Christmas in New York in the first place.
“I think we’re prepared for it. We know it’s a meaningful holiday but it’s still a business trip,” Middleton said.
The Bucks split their mini-series against the Knicks during this current trip, 1-1. They will want to end it with a win on Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center.
