The Boston Celtics sent shockwaves across the NBA on Monday after it was announced that they had struck a deal for former Milwaukee Bucks star Jrue Holiday. In exchange for the two-time All-Star, the Celtics sent Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, and two 2029 first-round picks to the Portland Trail Blazers, who for their part, recently acquired Holiday from the Bucks as part of the Damian Lillard deal.
Joel Embiid Reacts to Ex-Milwaukee Bucks Star Jrue Holiday Trade
One of the first NBA superstars to react to the news was Philadelphia 76ers talisman Joel Embiid. The reigning NBA MVP took to Twitter to express his intriguing reaction to this massive development:
This off-season was fun lmao
— Joel Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) October 1, 2023
Embiid did not name any names, but he came out with this tweet just moments after the Holiday deal was announced. Needless to say, the six-time All-Star has been keeping an eye on all the activity throughout the league during the summertime.
Joel Embiid, Sixers To Face a Much Tougher East
For their part, the Sixers have made their own moves in the offseason. They’ve added a few players via free agency, which include Patrick Beverley, Mo Bamba, Danny Green, and most recently, Kelly Oubre Jr. It goes without saying, though, that none of them have been of the blockbuster category.
At the moment, Philly is still trying to work out a deal for want-away star James Harden, who has made his desire to leave the team abundantly clear. Nothing has materialized on that front, though, and until that happens, the Sixers will be fielding a similar squad this coming season when they face new-look Celtics and Bucks sides in the East, among others.
