New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson was recently subjected to some harsh criticism ahead of their two-game mini-series against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Becky Hammon, the current head coach of back-to-back WNBA champions Las Vegas Aces, did not hold back in taking a swipe at Brunson. Well, a lot of fans believe that the former Gregg Popovich assistant was made to eat her own words after Brunson’s majestic performance on Saturday.
Jalen Brunson Redeems Himself Vs. Milwaukee Bucks
All eyes were on the Knicks as they hosted Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day. Regular-season games pretty much don’t get anny bigger than this, and with the spotlight aimed at Brunson, he delivered an incredible performance to lead New York to a 129-122 victory over Milwaukee.
Brunson finished with a game-high 38 points on 15-of-28 from the floor, to go along with one three-pointer, four rebounds, six assists, a steal, and zero turnovers.
The Knicks needed a masterful performance from their star to prevent the Bucks from winning their eighth straight game of the season, and Brunson absolutely answered the bell.
NBA Twitter Clowns Becky Hammon
According to Hammon, the Knicks don’t have what it takes to compete with the best of the best in the NBA. He doesn’t believe that they have a “1A dude” who’s capable of carrying them to a championship.
Hammon’s blatant criticism was met by some not-so-pleasant reactions from more than a few fans who were quick to defend Brunson’s honor. It was these same supporters who brought out their receipts against the 46-year-old coach after seeing the Knicks star go off on Christmas Day:
