The Milwaukee Bucks have done a tremendous job in navigating the tumultuous past few days in the aftermath of Adrian Griffin’s firing. They went 2-1 with interim head coach Joe Prunty in charge, which is an admirable feat for this squad, all things considered.
After a considerable delay, the Bucks have now finally announced Doc Rivers as their new head coach. The 62-year-old wasted no time in delivering an important message to his players.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Reveals Doc Rivers’ Message to Milwaukee Bucks
Bucks talisman Giannis Antetokounmpo knows that they will have to go through a process. It’s not as if Rivers’ arrival is going to solve all their issues overnight.
As Rivers said, however, what the Bucks need to do right now is to band together and have one united front.
“Different coach, different routines for everybody, so it’s going to take time,” Giannis said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “But I think the most important thing that he emphasized is to come together as a team. The more we are together as a team, the faster we can get to where we want to get to.”
Despite the challenges they all expect to face in the near future, Giannis is confident that Rivers is the right man for the job. In fact, Antetokounmpo is very much looking forward to achieving their ultimate goal with Rivers at the helm.
“Fast forward, 16, 17 years later, he’s in the same locker room, and I gotta do what I can to help this team, and I gotta follow his lead,” Antetokounmpo said. “So, I’m excited. He’s a legend in this league. He has accomplished great stuff in this league, and I hope we can accomplish some great stuff together.”
It all starts on Monday with the Bucks facing off against Nikola Jokic and the defending champs Denver Nuggets. You could not have written a better script.
