Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo missed Sunday’s game against the Phoenix Suns with a hamstring injury when Milwaukee won 140-129 over Phoenix. The Bucks will have a huge game on the road on Wednesday night against the Boston Celtics.
Milwaukee is currently the two seed in the Eastern Conference with a 44-24 record and the Boston Celtics have the number one seed in the Eastern Conference with a 54-14 record. The last time these two teams met on January 11, the Milwaukee Bucks dismantled the Boston Celtics 135-102.
Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo Is Ruled Out With a Hamstring Injury on Wednesday Night Against the Boston Celtics
Antetokounmpo was a full participant in practice on Tuesday for the Bucks, but he has been ruled for Wednesday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics. This season, he is averaging 30.8 PPG, 11.2 RPG, and 6.4 APG.
The last time Giannis Antetokounmpo faced the Celtics, he scored 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and recorded six assists. The Milwaukee Bucks will miss him for the second consecutive game. In the last four games he has played in, he has scored 30 or more points.
Antetokounmpo has also grabbed 10 or more rebounds in the last three of four games played. They hope he can be back soon and this is not like a game they are just two games back of Boston for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.
When he was out on Sunday against the Phoenix Suns, six players scored in double figures for Milwaukee. Bobby Portis Jr. would start in his place again if Antetokounmpo can not play in this game. Portis Jr. scored 31 points for the Bucks in the last game against Phoenix. Bobby Portis Jr. is one of the favorites to win the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award.
The projected starting lineup without Antetokounmpo would be Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis Jr., Khris Middleton, Malik Beasley, and Damian Lillard. This is a game that the Bucks need to win to stay in the two-seed. However, this is a game that the Boston Celtics need to win because they were embarrassed the last time they met and also prove they can beat the top contenders in the league.
