Milwaukee Bucks: Nikola Jokic Pays Ultimate Respect on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Winning Mentality

After winnning a big game against the New Orleans Pelicans at home, Doc Rivers’ coaching debut for the Milwaukee Bucks ended in disapointment due to a 113-107 loss to the Denver Nuggets. Nevertheless, Nikola Jokic still gave Giannis Antetokounmpo his flowers after the contest.

In that particular game, the duo of Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard combined for 47 points. The Greek Freak added 12 rebounds and four assists while the All-Star point guard contributed three rebounds and five assists for the Bucks.

On the other side of the fence, Jamal Murray dominated the Bucks by posting 35 points in 36 minutes. Jokic, meanwhile, was playing at an elite level by notching 25 points, 16 rebounds, and 12 assists to help Denver overcome the Bucks.

Even with a stellar showing from Antetokounmpo, the Nuggets’ dominant performance on both ends of the court was simply too much for Milwaukee. Nevertheless, there’s still enough time for Rivers to steer the team towards a string of victories soon.

While the Nuggets went away with the win over the Milwaukee Bucks, Jokic put a lot of respect on Antetokounmpo’s name after the match.

According to a tweet by Ryan Blackburn on X:

“I think he’s a great competitor. He wants to win every game. He’s playing with such a force, with such a power, will, I want to say. He really wants to win every game, and I think that’s what makes him good. Great actually. Every game, whenever we play back in Europe, National Teams, here, All-Star, he wants to win the game,” Jokic said.

Jokic’s perspective on the Greek Freak as a competitor gives more credit to Antetokounmpo as one of the best players in the NBA right now. And even though the Bucks lost their first game on the road, there’s still time for Doc Rivers to make the most out of Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard’s duo, and get a string of victories down the line.
