The Milwaukee Bucks suddenly find themselves in the midst of what feels like a pivotal season for the franchise. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been adamant that he loves Milwaukee and wants to stay with the team. He has also made it very clear that he doesn’t ever want to be apart of a rebuild. He will stay in Milwaukee, as long as Milwaukee remains competitive.
Giannis has even gone as far to say “if there is a better situation for me to win the Larry O’Brien I have to take that better situation.” That has certainly put pressure on the Bucks to remain relevant both now and in the future. With that being said, the Bucks have been named a top candidate for a five-time all-star who could bring significant depth to a position that needs it.
Milwaukee Bucks Linked To Five-Time All-Star Guard John Wall Amid Giannis Antetokounmpo Statements
Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report highlighted how impactful this would be for the Bucks:
The Milwaukee Bucks are in dire need of a point guard. Right now, the depth chart at that spot is populated by Jrue Holiday, A.J. Green, TyTy Washington and Lindell Wigginton.
Holiday, of course, is one of the game’s better 1s, but everyone else there is a fringe NBA player at best.
John Wall, 33, is well past his prime, but on a team with Holiday, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton handling the bulk of the ball-handling, he wouldn’t have to do a ton.
And if he could just create a few drive-draw-and-kickout threes for reserve shooters like Malik Beasley, Pat Connaughton and Bobby Portis in 10-15 minutes per game, he’d go down as a worthwhile add for a team competing for a title.
There is no doubt that this version of John Wall is a far cry from his days as an All-Star and defensive threat. A healthy and motivated John Wall could still impact the Bucks despite the injuries that have rendered that version of Wall virtually obsolete.
The veteran savvy he brings to a championship-aspiring team would prove invaluable. He is a former first-overall pick and five-time All-Star. If nothing else, he’s better than the Bucks’ other options behind Jrue Holiday.
