Milwaukee Bucks news: After being initially tagged as questionable to play for Monday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, Giannis Antetokounmpo is now set to miss just his third game of the season. This is after the Bucks decided to rule the former back-to-back MVP out for Monday’s contest due to a concerning Achilles injury.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo OUT Vs. Clippers
There was some considerable doubt surrounding Antetokounmpo’s playing status the moment the Bucks announced that he was questionable to play. The Achilles issue is a new injury as well, which made the entire situation even more concerning.
True enough, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers told reporters an hour and a half before tip-off that Giannis will have to watch Monday’s game from the sidelines. This comes via Eric Nehm of The Athletic:
Bucks coach Doc Rivers tells reporters that Giannis Antetokounmpo is out for tonight’s game.

There are two troubling bits of information that we can pick up from this sudden turn of events. The first one is Coach Doc’s revelation that Giannis has been playing through the Achilles issue over the past few games. The eight-time All-Star has been a regular on the injury report of late, but this was because of an injury to his right knee. Apparently, Antetokounmpo has been dealing with multiple injuries.
Moreover, Nehm reported that Giannis had to “cut his pregame routine short” just moments before the team decided to rule him out for Monday’s game. This seems to point to the notion that Antetokounmpo tried to give it a go but ultimately felt that he was in no condition to play.
Let’s just hope that he didn’t tweak anything in warm-ups.
