Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is the type of superstar who leaves it all on the court — regardless if it’s a random regular-season game in February. In the mind of the former back-to-back MVP, there’s just no point in remaining on the floor unless he’s able to give it everything he has.
This was exactly the case on Tuesday night as Antetokounmpo did everything he could to carry his team to victory against the Phoenix Suns at the Footprint Center. It was a commendable effort from the Bucks talisman but ultimately, it was the Suns who prevailed, 114-106.
Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers Commends Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Elite Mindset
Doc Rivers has pretty much seen it all throughout what has been a colorful 25-year coaching career. However, even the tenured shot-caller was left in awe as he watched Antetokounmpo battle it out against the Suns until the bitter end:
“Giannis has no pack in,” Rivers said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Even with a minute left, I was probably about to take him off the floor and he’s still flying around.”
Giannis finished Tuesday’s loss with a game-high 34 points on 13-of-24 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds, six assists, and five turnovers.
However, with Damian Lillard, Brook Lopez, and Khris Middleton (he lasted just eight minutes) all out of commission, Antetokounmpo just couldn’t handle the Suns all by his lonesome.
It could be another tough stretch ahead for the Bucks if the injuries to their stars prove to be more serious than anticipated but what you can be sure of is that Giannis isn’t going to be backing down no matter what.
