In a bizarre turn of events, newly-stated Milwaukee Bucks shot-caller Doc Rivers has been tapped by the league to represent the East as one of the head coaches of the upcoming NBA All-Star Game in Indiana. This is despite the fact that the 62-year-old has coached just four games for the Bucks, amassing a disappointing 1-3 record thus far.
Incidentally, the Bucks don’t even hold the best record in the East, which has some fans asking why Rivers has been called upon to represent the East.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Doc Rivers Picked Over Joe Mazzulla of Celtics
It was announced over the weekend that Rivers and his coaching staff will be heading to Indianapolis to coach the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. This is after the Bucks clinched the best record in the conference among teams that have an eligible head coach for the upcoming ASG.
For what it’s worth, the 33-17 Bucks are five games behind the league-leading Boston Celtics (38-12) as of February 5. The only reason reason why Mazzulla is ineligible to represent the East is because he already took this honor last season.

Doc Rivers Wants to Decline All-Star Invite
Rivers himself has admitted that the circumstances are anything but ideal. In fact, the Bucks head coach called it “ridiculously bad” knowing that it was ex-head coach Adrian Griffin who led Milwaukee to the second-best record in the East.
In fact, Coach Doc intends to give his All-Star ring and bonus to Griffin:
Doc Rivers: “That is so ridiculously bad.” He plans to give Adrian Griffin his All-Star ring and bonus. Rivers suggests sending his staff to Indianapolis and going on a beach vacation. “I’m going to run that by Adam Silver.” https://t.co/X3UDLZ6eWm
