Doc Rivers’ 1-Word Description of Milwaukee Bucks’ Defense in Brutal Loss To Portland Trail Blazers

Two games into the Doc Rivers era, the Milwaukee Bucks have found themselves in a two-game losing streak after the Portland Trail Blazers spoiled Damian Lillard’s return. Turns out, the team’s defense is the culprit, if Rivers is to be believed.

After falling to the Denver Nuggets a couple of days ago, the Bucks also did the same against Portland in their own home. Leading the way for the Trail Blazers was Anfernee Simons, who had 25 points on 52 percent shooting from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Deandre Ayton had a big night as well by dropping 20 points and 11 rebounds.

On the Bucks’ side, Giannis Antetokounmpo led his team by posting 27 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. For his part, Lillard added 25 points, six rebounds, and seven assists against his former squad.

Even with that loss, the Bucks are still second in the Eastern Conference with a record of 32-16. It remains to be seen whether the team will bounce back with a win or continue their losing streak in the coming days.

Doc Rivers Drops Brutal 1-Word Take On Milwaukee Bucks’ Defense Against the Portland Trail Blazers

Speaking to reporters after the game, Rivers shared a very brief yet accurate description of the Bucks’ defense against Portland. According to a tweet by Eric Nehm on X:

“What did you think of the defense to start the game? Awful,” Rivers said.

Although Rivers’ description might be harsh, there is some truth to it. As it stands, the Bucks are 19th in the league when it comes to defensive rating. This places Milwaukee in the bottom half of the league if defensive performance is considered.

With two losses now under his belt, Rivers will be more pressured to secure his first win as the Bucks’ head coach after Adrian Griffin was fired. In any case, it looks like Milwaukee will have to figure out its problem fast if the team wants to get out of the rut it’s currently in.
