The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching, and the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t made a move to get better before the playoffs begin. With the team losing two straight games under new head coach Doc Rivers, the front office might need to act fast.
The Bucks fell to the Denver Nuggets recently, which coincided with Rivers’ debut as the team’s head coach. Even with a stellar performance by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee’s defense paved the way for their loss against the Nikola Jokic-led squad.

Just recently, the Portland Trail Blazers spoiled Damian Lillard’s return by handing them their second-straight loss. Even with a strong showing by the duo of Antetokounmpo and Lillard, the Bucks lost the second time with Rivers as the head coach.
In comparison, other teams in the Eastern Conference have already made their move, such as the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers. With the competition getting better, it’s imperative for the Bucks to act quickly right away before the trade deadline expires.
Milwaukee Bucks Projected to Acquire Delon Wright Before the NBA Trade Deadline Expires

While other teams are aiming to make a splash before the deadline, the Bucks could pursue Delon Wright from the Washington Wizards to improve their roster. In an article written by David Aldridge and Josh Robbins for The Athletic:
“Wright’s defensive impact has slipped a little this season, though it’s fair to add that the defense behind him has been so bad that it’s certainly not all his fault. But he’s still an excellent on-ball guard whose size, smarts and length make him among the best in the league at causing deflections and creating general havoc for opposing half-court offenses. A team like the Bucks, which has fallen off considerably on defense this season, could use an upgrade like Wright to back up Damian Lillard on the ball or play alongside Lillard to get the All-Star off the opposition’s top guard threats,” Aldrige and Robbins wrote.
Getting Wright means absorbing his $16 million expiring contract from the Wizards. To make this trade possible, the Bucks would have to send veteran wing Pat Connaughton and a couple of second-round picks.
While the Bucks don’t have any major assets to use, taking a chance on Wright might be the change the team needs from a defensive perspective. Adding him will give Milwaukee a dynamic defender without taking too many touches from Antetokounmpo or Lillard.
It remains to be seen what Milwaukee will do in the coming days. Nevertheless, the Bucks need to act fast before Wright or any other trade target will be gone.
