Milwaukee Bucks news: It’s a well-known fact that Damian Lillard sent shockwaves throughout the NBA when he demanded a trade away from the Portland Trail Blazers this past summer. Teams such as the Miami Heat did all they could to land the seven-time All-Star, which also included throwing in their players in potential trade packages for Dame.
Miami stud Tyler Herro was perhaps the most prominent name in trade discussions as the Heat attempted to use the former Sixth Man of the Year as the centerpiece of their trade offer for the Blazers.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Gets Brutally Honest
It wasn’t just Lillard’s career that was at stake when he demanded a trade away from Portland. Players such as Herro also had their futures with their respective teams put into question. When asked about this particular repercussion stemming from his desire to leave the Blazers, Dame got brutally honest in his response:
“I think that’s a part of the game that we signed up to play,” Lillard said, via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “That’s part of the business. When we get picked and drafted into this league, it’s not something that we don’t know about. When parts move from one place, that means other people have to be a part of it. That’s the way it goes. It wasn’t something that I was concerned with or considering. All I can control is myself and that’s part of this business. That’s where I left it at.”
I see no lies here.
It’s not as if Lillard told the Heat to trade Herro. That decision was made under Miami’s own prerogative. And the same goes for every other player that was dragged into the Lillard trade rumors, as well as the players who were actually moved when Dame’s trade to Milwaukee was made official.
As they always say, the NBA is a ruthless business.
