Milwaukee Bucks news: At this point, there shouldn’t be any doubt as to who the greatest shooter of all time is. That title belongs to Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry.
At the same time, however, it’s also hard to deny that had it not been for Curry, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard would likely be the best shooter in the NBA right now.
CJ McCollum Compares Stephen Curry to Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard
One man who has had the opportunity to see these two superstars up close is New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard CJ McCollum. As a matter of fact, the former No. 10 overall pick played nine years alongside Lillard with the Portland Trail Blazers.
In his mind, McCollum believes that there is one thing, in particular, that sets Steph apart from Dame:
“I think they’re both really, really good players who played in different circumstances,” McCollum said on an episode of HBO Max and Bleacher Report’s The Reel. “Dame is more on-ball, Steph is more off-ball but can also play on the ball. (Curry) can be a threat on the ball and then pass, and that’s when the play really starts. It just takes him to a different stratosphere.
“I think that’s what makes (Curry) better than most because he can beat you with the ball in his hands, he can beat you cutting, moving, spacing. And their offense is poetry in motion so it’s a beautiful thing to see.”
While Lillard is absolutely no bum, the main difference between him and Curry is that the latter is a much more potent threat off the ball — at least according to McCollum. This is not a knock on Dame whatsoever. It’s just that, as CJ said, Steph is in a whole “different stratosphere” all by himself.
