Last year, Mac McClung made jaws drop all over the world by winning the Slam Dunk contest with a thunderous set. This year, he did the same thing all over again by blowing everyone’s minds away, including that of Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard
During the 2023 All-Star Weekend, McClung went up against KJ Martin, Trey Murphy III, and Jericho Sims. This year, though, the G League star for the Osceola Magic bested Jaylen Brown, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Jacob Toppin.
All in all, McClung had a total of four dunks for this year’s edition of the Slam Dunk contest. Of the four dunks, three involved jumping over other people. The last of which was McClung leaping over Shaquille O’Neal, a dunk that garnered a perfect score of 50 from the judges.
For his part, Damian Lillard participated in this year’s 3-Point Contest during the All-Star Weekend and conquered it. The Bucks star bested Karl Anthony-Towns and Trae Young in the final round to come out on top. Despite Milwaukee’s brutal stretch of games recently, Lillard now holds the distinction of being among the few who won the said contest in back-to-back years.

A lot of stars witnessed McClung’s brilliance in the Slam Dunk contest. Lilllard is one of them, and he shares his take in a video posted on X:
“He let the ball go and grabbed it again… That’s TOUGH!”

Lillard was reacting to McClung’s first dunk, which saw him leap over a person while momentarily letting go of the ball before slamming it into the basket. He added that the attempt itself was pretty tough after seeing it happen.
Ultimately, McClung won the contest, making him among the chosen few to win it twice in a row. This makes him similar to Lillard, who’s also enjoying the accolade in this year’s 3-Point Shooting Contest.
